Strikeforce Brawl in Nashville Video Reactions

Strikeforce Nashville was filled with great MMA fights – a new light heavyweight champion in King Mo Lawal crowned, Gilbert Melendez showed that he is one of the best lightweight MMA fighters in the world after dissecting DREAM champion Shinya Aoki in dominating fashion and Jake Shields put doubters to rest after dominating Dan Henderson to retain the Strikeforce middleweight championship. However the trending topic is the Strikeforce brawl that occurred after the middleweight bout between Shields and Henderson. During the post-fight interview while Jake Shields was talking with CBS correspondent Gus Johnson, an un-expected and un-invited Jason Mayhem Miller attempted to steal the spotlight away from Jake Shields in what appeared to be an attempted Shields Mayhem Miller II pre-fight hype gone terribly wrong. Although Jason Mayhem Miller was out of line going into the ring, he did not deserve to get jumped by Team Caesar Gracie which included both Diaz brothers. The photo above was posted on NathanDiaz.com, which probably was not the smartest photo in the world to post considering it provides clear evidence to exactly who were throwing punches but you never know I guess. The Strikeforce brawl did come at a bad time given the event was being broadcast on CBS, however in fight sports these “hype building” confrontations turned brawls happen all the time either in the ring post-fight or during pre-fight press conferences, just check out this SportsCenter Top 10 press conference brawls. Fights happen all the time in sports, hell a fight even broke out on Saturday during the Boston Celtics / Miami Heat game when Kevin Garnett came to the aid of a downed teammate. Testosterine is high after a fight and when a fighter (and his team mates for that matter) feel disrespected, especially after a celebration then emotions tend to trump reason. None of this is an excuse for what happened but looking at the Strikeforce brawl in hindsight it may not have been as serious as it is being assessed. There should be sanctions and reprimands on all fighters involved including UFC fighter Nate Diaz. MMAFighting.com and Ariel Helwani got some great interviews with the Strikeforce champions and Scott Coker regarding the Strikeforce brawl and the fighter’s performance. Check them out below.

READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO TO ANOTHER MMA EVENT.
Bobby Lashley Sucks. As a former fighter friend of his I know the inside scoop. He, along with a lot of these mma guys, took steroids before. Lashley lost to Chad Griggs for a reason years of steroid abuse. They need to start blood testing like the olympic standard all the time at least, not just the piss test. Even better, they should test for steroids from their fat deposits, oh yeah, all your fat goes mostly in your arteries and veins on steroids. Affects your cardio, and makes you suck like Bobby Lashley. Bobby does not deserve to be with strikeforce, and should retire before they catch the fact that he has doped in the past. I want real warriors, not cheaters, fighting to the death. No midgets at 165lbs or less, and if the commission in the states allow, let there be one fighting championship, no weight limit. Like the old days. It will take care of all these wannabe bad asses. UFC/Strikeforce/MMA period better change your ways a storm is coming. Fans are tired of cheaters on roids, and losers who don’t know how to fight, just wrestle.
